Where do you start with Liverpool? Firstly, I have to say Everton thoroughly deserved their win at Anfield last weekend. But, as bad as things have been for Jurgen Klopp’s side, I don’t see them slipping up again here. Sheffield United have only won once at Bramall Lane all season and they were pretty poor in their defeat at Fulham last week too. The Blades will know that the Reds have a weakness at the back and they really have to go for it here anyway – there is no point them playing for a draw. I just fancy Liverpool to pick them off though. Yes, Liverpool have lost Jordan Henderson at the back to another injury, but their defensive problems won’t matter if they play like they can going forward.

Liverpool’s hopes of making a surge during the second half of the league table suffered a major blow as they lost to Everton, in the prestigious Merseyside derby. The result leaves them stranded in sixth place, with no real hopes of catching up with league leaders Manchester City, who currently hold a lead of almost 20 points heading into this weekend’s round of fixtures.

A Liverpool side in freefall will look to arrest their alarming slump in form when they face relegation-bound Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Sunday evening. The defending champions have now lost each of their last four games in the Premier League, and have remarkably picked up fewer points this calendar year than their bottom-of-the-table hosts. Many were tipping Jurgen Klopp’s side as Invincibles back then, but they look as far from invincible as possible right now, and it could be argued that their decline began with their defeat to Watford on February 29, 2020 – in the 12 months before that, the Reds did not lose a single game; in the 12 months since they have lost 10 times.

Liverpool have been all over the place recently and deserved to lose against Everton but Sheffield United present an open goal for Jürgen Klopp’s side to get back on track. Injuries are mounting for Chris Wilder much like the pressure of relegation as the drop looms ever larger. United will hope to exploit Liverpool’s patchwork defence but as the cliche states: attack is the best form of defence. Ping it up to Mohamed Salah and let him take care of Phil Jagielka. A possible victory of sorts over Everton as the former Blue is unlikely to still have the legs to hold off Liverpool’s athletic attacking unit. Graham Searles.
